My wife and I grew up in South Florida and spent a few years in Dallas, TX both of which are significantly cheaper to purchase but figuring out the rent to own ratio as well as rent pricing is where I'm getting hung up. 

My wife was born in Longview and grew up   up river Cahtlamet  Puget Island.. it was a thriving timber/fishing town up until about the mid 80s  just like most of the WA coast  its pretty dead now and has been for years..
