Getting the lender to endorse the claim check to the owner then becomes a necessity, and whether that is going to be a challenge I can't say ...

Then I asked my agent if the basement is a necessity in KC?

Ect..So really look at what you have now and ask yourself is this a necessity do I need this or did I just want it??

@Spencer RossieThe land locking situation is easily resolved - most or maybe all jurisdictions allow an "easement by necessity".

And air conditioning here in Michigan right now is not a necessity.

I don't spend a lot of money on non-necessities (by my definition) these days, but one day I'll tell some stories on what my spending habits used to be...you'll either get a good chuckle or you'll think I'm a horrible person...  :-)-  Personally, the most important thing in my life is my family. 

My question is in regards to factoring in the cost to upgrade a new bathroom even if the bathroom has the basic of basic necessities??
