So they wrote AFCIs into the electrical code, and only made them available, so far, as $60 circuit breakers.)If you're wiring brand new, one theory is to put all the lights on one circuit, and all the receptacles on another, so that if somebody plugs something in that pops the receptacle breaker, they aren't also plunged into darkness.
