It was widely used everywhere prior to 1978, It's not an issue unless you're going to be tearing out walls and disturbing the paint.

we got a bid yesterday to have it fixed...in doing so, along with cleaning/remediating, they will be tearing out the bottom 4 feet of all the walls.
