He could be in a world of hurt if he failed to hold the deposit in escrow all this time, so by challenging us and forcing us to take the legal route, he’s subjecting himself to a whole can of worms that he’d prefer to not open.

I've given them 8 months' notice, am spending 3k on a shed for them, they don't pay rent and expect the city to pay me rent (trying to tap into 6 months' of covid rental assistance funds), yet they can still just do absolutely nothing and have all the rights in the world.

This is exactly why I posed this question, I keep finding instances where condos could prove to be an attractive first step into the STR world.

It’s not time to write an obituary for SF Bay Area since Stanford and UC Berkeley isn’t going anywhere and we still have the strongest talent pool of tech workers and VC firms in the world but it’s very possible that our days of being the One center of the tech universe are coming to a close.
