Whispers over the past several months had hinted at this development and Elon himself has confirmed the news today.

And Tesla still can't sell cars in Texas, haha. That just shows how much Musk hates California. It is also worth mentioning that they announced they will continue to expand California operations, so they are not leaving. There is talent and technology infrastructure in California today that cannot be beat. That being said, technology companies have clearly voted Austin #2 in their book. It comes down to Texas supply of land and low taxes. 

Congratulations Austin investors, your city is on a great path! High paying management and technology jobs are the holy grail of business development. 

I am waiting for the California people to chime in and say "nothing to see here".
