@John Thedford I think what the OP is alluding too is it sounds like his lender is charging a draw inspection fee.. and most HML these days that don't know the borrower have this.I know the crowdfunders do or should.on my bank construction loans they send an inspector each month to verify work and allow our draws to go through.. they don't charge me.some of the HML will charge 100 to 300 per draw.. but realize also they are paying a service to do the draw inspection.. so they probably make a delta but its not going to make or break the dealHML make their money in the points.. and delta on interest rate is they have a credit facility or a PPM.

For the last several years, I have hired a licensed inspector to do the Inspections, and I can accompany him at any property, best way to see what is going on, and Not going on.

Otherwise, its important to have a local advocate - Someone that knows the laws, nuances, neighborhoods and contractors, home inspectors, solid title cos, ect.

Based on all the crappy people i've dealt with from contractors, lenders, agents to inspectors, sellers, condo managers etc., I dont trust anyone to do a good job.

But I also just read that they must be marked "No Equipment Ground", and if and when an inspector comes around to test them, it will still show "Open Ground".Im a little confused.

Our realtor recommends the following only for contingencies:- Properly secure the basement stairs- Correct all plumbing leaks- Repair the dryer vent using proper materials- - Test for lead based paint as recommended by the general inspector.
