Some battles simply are not worth fighting for any amount of money.Time to move on.

Fighting the inspector is a fool’s game unless you plan to go to your mayor to complain.

Essentially I would have just bought a "right" to now go fight those other people for my piece of that pie.

At some point someone needs to fight this but that is in my opinion going to take 3 things that I don't have which is money, time, and will. 

They're legally able to charge me, but it's pretty shady that they let service transfer numerous times over more than a decade before deciding I'm the one they're going to fight for it. 

Texas has non-judicial foreclosure state, so faster, but if anyone fights it will always take longer.

I currently live in Irvine, CA paying $1,630 a month plus utilities (about $100) for a 1 bed, 1 bath apartment, which is pretty cheap in this area.
