I used to design high-rise structures in New York City as a Structural Engineer and currently I work as Sales Engineer in the construction industry.I have purchased an investment unit in Chicago which I also manage.  

Are you strong in design or construction?

I think your biggest challenge would be during your renovation phase once the deal is found - finding the right contractors, deciding on designs/upgrades that buyers are looking for etc.

My background is in Digital Marketing and Graphic Design, but I've been educating myself over the past few months in preparation to break into the REI industry.

That is KW's beginner course in real estate designed to put the newbie on course to do 16 transactions in their first year.

I discovered this by trial and error--working away on floors but finding it is actually in the walls (so don't tear up subfloor if it still has lingering odor, but see below)....So my final step in the pet urine disaster is to TSP all the walls and ceilings, rinse, and then apply Kilz or equivalent sealer designed for odors.

I also offer web design, development, and digital marketing services in my spare time.

I've always had an interest in real estate -- as a kid I spent a lot of time playing with various home design programs, learning how to use AutoCAD from my dad and watching HGTV (LOL yes I was kind of a dork!).
