Better Homes n Gardens (masiello) VS. Keller Williams
as a new agent which one do you think i should go for? i interviewed them both three times and i am really torn between the two...
KELLER WILLIAMS - everyone says KW has a lot of expenses but whenever i ask they tell me there isnt much except for $80 monthly. higher commission, cap out at 25k and then i get 100% commiss. One thing i dont like about KW is how hard they are trying to recruit me. They tell me not to interview anywhere else because "they are the best and there is no point". Everywhere else says, "check out who everyone and then come back to us". KW has that whole pyramid D.R.I.P thing going on where they get some of my commission or however that works.... How hard is it to get going at KW as a brand new agent? to get my first listing and to continue getting listings to make money?
MASIELLO- I dont really have much against them. They pay for everything, but they take a lot of commission. all the referrals that they give you, you need to pay even more commission.
KW looks better, but i just think they are hiding something and i am hoping someone can further explain anything i may be missing.
any advice helps
NH , New Hampshire , real estate agent , New england , realtor .
Thanks.

@Devin Mann I'm also a KW agent and here is something that you have to ask yourself starting out. Option 1: Start with a brokerage that may give you leads but take more of a % from you because they do provide you with the leads or; Option 2: Start with a brokerage who will give you the education and training to teach you how to do the work yourself.
Me personally, I decided with the brokerage who will teach me how to fish that way I wont need you to feed me and I can go out into the world fully equip to gather my own fish. Now this situation is not suitable to everyone because some people need the income right away at a lower commission but at least they have $ coming in. If you don't know how to close with the client on your listing/buyers presentations so you can convert these leads. In this field, training and education is very important but so is keeping your lights on and food on your table. You have to decide which one is more important to you in your early career. Learn how to make as much as money as you can with a proven model or go with a brokerage will constant feed you leads that you have to convert.
The fees you pay for each month covers majority of the things that you will need to operate your business as well as insurance. Your E&O is quarterly and other fees are monthly which include the operating system that you will use to run your business which is provided to you by KW. Ask a KW agent to show you their Edge system and you will see why paying the fees are worth it. Others pay for similar databases but KW provide you with the database already. Only downside is this is if you decide to leave KW then you no longer have access to KW so I maintain another database of this information just in case their system goes down or when I start my own brokerage. But this system is only $99 per year and offers similar service.
As far as the pyramid goes, its called profit sharing as an entrepreneur, your goal should be growing your team so you start out as one agent but recruit more under you to develop into a great team of agents! To close out, KW will teach you how to fish but they won't feed you but some agents rather trade learning the trade and going out into the world to fish on their own rather than sitting at a table and waiting to be fed.
All of this is just my opinion... If you have any other questions, feel free to ask me or any other KW agents.
