Stick with a shower curtain that is cheap/easy to replace and allows the Tenant to customize the colors a little.

Being the biggest house on the block can sometimes be bad because your bogged down by the prices of the smaller houses surrounding yours.

I own a condo in SW, one block away from the new Wharf development. 

From what I gather, it sounds like you're just having a normal experience, albeit colorfully described. 

The other is finished with stainless appliances, granite counters, faux painting and decorator colors, wood or cork flooring, and ceramic showers.

In my area prices on similar homes (sq ft, lot size, condition etc) changes drastically in a matter of blocks.

I also like that it comes in different colors.
