I am a Criminal Defense Attorney by trade to I try plan out as much as I can because I hate to be cause off guard.

Think of it this way - how would you like to pay market price for someone's trade-in at the car dealership if the dealership took the trade in that morning, hung the keys on the wall, and sold you the car that afternoon, without anyone looking it over?

Generally speaking, a person may bring an action for defamation when false statements are being published online, and they are suffering harm from those statements.

If you go at it alone or allow the seller's agent to also represent you (dual-agent) - then you have no representation in the process, which may not be the best course of action if you are truly "very new to investing" - as you state.
