While your broker/lender should have told you explicitly about the prepay, it's incumbent on the borrower to at least read enough to comprehend and if you don't understand what you're reading (very possible) ask questions.

You will not get a lot of responses on here for several reasons - too many questions, not a big enough pool of people to answer the questions, and most agents have no clue about what it takes to work with investors. 

So my question is what do they need to do to make sure they aren’t blamed for any of this and also see about getting a refund.
