Where I live we find a lot of dry rot in support beams in basements and evidence of homes needing sump pumps.

This may also give you a wet basement/crawl space.Wood is amazing and can get wet a million times, as long as it dries out between.I suggest gutters first and have them lead away from the house. 

What is working now may not work in 3 months, but if you aren't watching and testing different things, you won't realize until the leads have dried up while you still spend money and then you are rushing to pivot and find the next strategy.
