Hi,Wondering what the difference is - if any - between the two in regards to deducting property taxes.Acquiring property with my SO and we're not married - would like my SO to be able to deduct 100% of property taxes on their taxes.Since there is no income tax in WA, I'm unclear whether state or federal legislation applies and couldn't find a solid answer.Thanks for any insights!

@Sara BatoolIf you sell within 1 year of ownership, you do not get 121 exclusion.The sale would be subject to Federal income tax, state income tax and potentially the net investment income tax(depending on your income levels).The gain would be considered short-term and you would not get long-term capital gain tax treatment.

I'm never present for it though (or the initial inspection for that matter).Keep in mind that, although the Section 8 program is a federal program, it's administered at the county level by the local Housing Authority offices so I imagine your experience could vary somewhat.And one final comment, even if a particular repair item is determined to be the "tenant responsibility", they do have some motivation to fix it because - if the Housing Authority were to stop payment - it doesn't mean "free rent".
