I doubt this is the scenario for this one so consider that these type of properties may be good for cashflow but you can't scale with these type of properties unless you plan to self manage the whole way.

I'd love to scale that up such that I can make more money with less time invested. 

I can not speak for them, but my understanding is that they are buying up current property management companies that are already established and letting them run as their own for a while before using scale and volume. 

Of course another person will argue that without property managers, you limit your scale and spend your time.  

I have a track record currently, and want to put more of my own money into marketing and multifamily deals vs single family, but want to scale my single family business.I have built a decent list of my "circles" as the book says to do already, and with a little more effort think I can expand that list.

Sure you'll get some efficiencies of scale, but that will also depend on the nature of the property.

But if you want to quit truckin' in 10 years, this is not an aggressive or scale-able strategy.
