This is at best, misleading, and at worst, detrimental to the industry.However, it is often difficult to find a concrete example of Zillow's inadequacies to prove to their users how wrong the Zestimates are, again for a couple reasons.

I have had the same laminate in rentals for 8+ years now and it still looks great (and it was the cheap stuff).Here is what I do....If there is clean concrete sub-floor (no adhesive) then I have the concrete stained and sealed (looks amazing and its very durable).The there is concrete sub-floor that cannot be stained then I lay tile.

Rehab/repairs consisted of all new floors, tile over basement concrete floor, all new stainless appliances, washer and dryer, full paint job, removing drop ceiling and replacing with drywall, shed demolition, fancy kitchen faucet, granite countertop and backsplash installation (kept cabinets), new bathroom vanity, new gfci and grounded outlets by licensed electrician. 

There is very little concrete information given, and since the barrier to entry is stupidly low, everyone and their younger brother has decided to get into the swimming pool. 

Have our excavating/concrete company dig and pour the foundation for the additional living quarters, our carpentry company complete the framing, our partnerships with electrical, siding, and gutters companies do their part, and our own roofing company to finish the roof.

I wasn’t given a concrete reason other than it sounded like he may be going through a divorce and selling off assets.
