New R-22 equipment is no longer being manufactured.

In many parts of the US, manufacturing and similar jobs are going away (or have already left) and what remains are service sector jobs.

@Rob Myers is correct 1 1/4" is what you need underneath and manufacturers will not warranty the tile unless you have that much underneath.

Professionally manage out the one side with instructions to not disclose that you are the owner , and assume the role as a tenant as you are.

@Bartley MalicoatProvided your roof has sufficient pitch - many manufactures say a minimum of 4/12, we prefer 6/12 - a metal roof is far better than asphalt ... especially for those of us who see significant snow.Some things to consider (from our experience):ensure you properly deal with the ventilation (and, possibly, insulation) of the roof deck (particularly at the soffits and other overhangs) prior to installing the metal roof.
