New roof: Metal vs asphalt

Hey guys first post on here and was hoping to get some opinions on metal roofs vs asphalt roofs as I couldn't find much info on BP about the comparison. From the research I've done so far I'm leaning towards a metal roof. The life expectancy for metal seems like anywhere from 50-100 years and asphalt is more like 15-30. Metal looks like it will cost more upfront but with not having to replace it (in theory) seems like it'll save me money down the road and if I ever decide to sell the property it will help the resale value as well. I'm 24 years old and this is my first property and plan on keeping it as a buy and hold investment for many years to come. I'm going to talk with some contractors in the next few days and see what they think as well. Would love to hear some opinions from the BP community on what you guys think. Thanks
