Avery Carl had a lot of good information about STR's. 

Lots of the information online suggests that it is the easiest way to get started because you don't need that much capital, but look at successful RE Wholesalers they spend $50K+ plus a month on marketing and staff. 

From there, we ask people for their contact info to be informed about future meetups and try to schedule one on one coffee/lunches with new people who come to see if we can help them achieve their real estate investing goals.
