A huge headache is just because land is for sale doesn’t mean you can put a house on it.  

Do you start with a lot of houses or like most of the people with one house?  

If the property is homesteaded, you are grandfathered only at max 3%.You can see bellow an example as the taxes increased after the change om ownership. the big difference is due to fact the area appreciated 1000% since the 90s when the house was initially purchased as a homestead.

If you think the property is going to continue to appreciate and you can manage the rental, and it at least breaks even, and you don't have need for the funds, you can consider holding.Those are a lot of factors to consider.
