I am more inclined to want the interest than the property so I look for owner/occupied properties with a history of past redemptions and liens that are about to expire so there is a likelihood that the owner of that certificate may begin foreclosure so that he or she does not lose his or her investment and I will be bought out at that point.

I can see most sales history if I look at both Trulia and Zillow (they are both spotty, but usually list enough different properties to give me an idea of sales data).

If I go to a specific property on tax assessors website, I can see yearly tax history, but that would be very time consuming.

Good luck I invest in Detroit And the eastern suburbs and my advise is no your areas because and know the rental rules because if the city inspects your house and finds you need repairs or updatesand hit you with the lead paint inspections you 600 dollar house my quickly turn into 3500worth of fines.
