I'm a bit nervous about this, and I'd like to hear from experienced investors.It seems house hacking a SFR will be my best bet for minimizing negative cash flow losses while satisfying VA loan owner occupancy requirements (I currently live in Southern California, and work in Vegas).

I'm looking for multi family homes bc I plan to stay in one of the units for a year to satisfy the loan requirement(FHA LOAN).

That being said, after you are done and the Land Bank is satisfied with the repairs , they will release their interest and you can sell it. 

Do not have them pull your credit until you are satisfied that the likely hood of them financing you is pretty good.And yes, your subject property is considered commercial.

Tendency higher  rents ...The typical Naples winter tenant is booking 3 months ... and turns easily into a returning tenant if satisfied!

I've never been a landlord and part of me would like to feel this endeavor is complete (sell); part of me thinks owning this home long-term would be really satisfying and I should keep it.
