This is a good example of why going forward you make sure all unrelated adults over 18 are qualified individually (I state unless a dependent on another applicant's tax return, but background check still required), and a criminal/background check should have told you he has a current record so would not have been a good candidate for a tenant to begin with.

If you sign as a business not actually licensed to do business in your state, even if it seems like some harmless error, could open you up to serious civil liability and potentially criminal liability if you run into a prosecutor having a bad day.Consult an attorney in your state to determine whether to void the check and ask for a new one.

You run the criminal background check to confirm if a applicant is a sex offender.Bottom line is you still have the ability to reject any applicant you choose for personal reasons even if it is their appearance, attitude smell etc.
