How are they affording the rent?

Currently, I live in San Francisco, I am happy with where I live and rent my home, and I cannot afford to purchase a property near to where I live and work.

I am finding this very frustrating and although I have no intention of quitting I want my first serious deal under my belt.

I have no credit or income issues, just can't afford the 20% down payment in such an expensive market.  

The part that frustrates me the most however is that I have spent hours upon hours setting up my quickbooks account, getting my chart of accounts setup, recurring transactions, etc. and now most of that time is lost.

Doing this too many times will get you nowhere and frustrated real quick.

So where are these places that are in somewhat affordable markets?  

I saw a lot of duplex's in Galveston that seemed to be much more affordable than the ones in Houston but may need to reconsider this idea. 

Every time water is restored within 24 hours, but I could understand their frustration.
