Thought I would add to the discussion by running some numbers on the data.The following three maps show the change in the number of housing units for the 125 to 150k, 300k to 400k, and 750 to 1M home value cohorts from 2014 to 2018, aggregated by Census DivisionAs was stated, the supply of lower end properties (125k to 150k) has decreased drastically in all parts of the US except for the area around the great lakes region. 

I have a lot in Canyon Lake and am looking for a builder that can take on a modern stucco bungalow project.

Dora, Florida in a very nice neighborhood where within a mile there are some huge million dollar plus property on a big lake.

(Investor for 15 years)I want to expand my property portfolio by starting to invest in the States, I have specifically looked at Florida (Orlando, Kissimmee,Lake Mary) areas as I visited Florida last year so I guess I feel a bit more comfortable to start there with my first property.

For Birmingham, I put my money in East Lake and Ensley.

I have found a beautiful house on a lake that got pretty beat up by a hurricane 2-3 years ago.
