A reverse osmosis system (for your drinking water taps only) will take care of the sodium, it's not a huge concern unless you have high blood pressure or on a salt restricted diet.

Schedule 80 does indeed have thicker walls and can handle "more pressure" however you are talking about a sewer system, which will not be under pressure.

I would recommend sticking with a multi-family that has solid systems and at worst, needs aesthetic upgrades.
