A person on entering into an agreement to build a swimming pool or contained body of water or sell, rent or lease a dwelling with a swimming pool or contained body of water shall give the buyer, lessee or renter a notice explaining safety education and responsibilities of pool ownership as approved by the department of health services.To me, every pool needs a fence!

Also wondering if any one can give us suggestions on providing/offering health insurance.

Any other repairs need to be for health and normal safety concerns or for the health and safety of the property itself. 

@Danny Van you can also attend Oakland REIA and MREI, both held monthly in Troy.Regarding what to do, first you'll need to call the City and get their rental application to fill out, pay the fee, submit and schedule the inspection.It's mostly a health & safety inspection: smoke detectors, a CO detector near furnace, handrails, GFCI's. etc.WARNING: Warren doesn't really like landlords, so they can be picky about previous work done without permits - even if it was done before you bought the property!

I lived in neighboring town of Poughkeepsie called Town of Lloyd - Highland, NY 12528 for more than 19 years its a nice and safe neighborhood with good school district, worlds largest walk-way over Hudson river, lots of trails, golf, biking, scenic drives with good hospitals in 5 miles radius namely: Nuvance Health Vassar Brothers Medical Center, MidHudson Regional Hospital, Saint Francis Medical, Health Quest Home Care and others...The latest addition which is getting constructed is The Village in Highland, NY - Assisted living facility.

Eventually my partner and my own health insurance cost rose to over $1400 a month which just wasn’t sustainable so I got a job in a group home on third shift.

Call the building department/ zoning/ health departments (if it's on septic) and ask them.  

Now he is 85 and in declining health and cannot travel anymore.
