It appears to be a very sound REI.San Diegan's salaries are low when compared to housing costs (the infamous "Sunshine Tax"). 

Unemployment is reducing from 5.3 a yr ago to 5% The sun shines and the tourists flow steadily.  

That 24/7 sunshine doesn't come cheap!
