Newbie looking to get started in Honolulu, Hawaii

Aloha PB,

Happy Thanksgiving! I’ve been listening to the podcasts for a couple of months now, and I’m really excited to become a part of this amazing community. I moved to Honolulu about a year ago, and I’m looking to get started with Fix and Flips in or near the city. I know it will be tough in this hot market, but I’m eager to learn how to make it happen. I’ve been really enjoying the process of educating myself in real estate, creative finance techniques, and business. I’m ready to get off the sidelines and make my first deal.

I was very involved in helping my parents look for potential investment properties while I was in college. It was 2012 and we had found a short-sale we were interested in. Long story short, we missed out on what would have been an amazing deal on a Single Family House at that time, and we lost all of our steam. It is now worth $500K more than their asking price from 2012. Ouch. It's been awhile since then, but I'm re-motivated to invest in real estate and I love learning about how to be successful in using real estate to build your wealth.

I am currently working with an investor-friendly real estate agent who owns a couple of her own rental properties, but she's no longer actively investing. She has introduced me to an investor-friendly lender she likes to work with. They both seem very knowledgable, helpful, and willing to lend a few tips. We'll soon be reviewing the finance options with our lender, and we hope to focus our efforts on flipping our first condo in the Honolulu / Waikiki area.

I enjoy the process of doing your due diligence, so I’ll make sure to crunch all my numbers, and hopefully this awesome community can help make sure I don’t miss any steps. Thanks for all the inspiration, and I'm looking forward to connecting with you all.

Thanks for reading!
