@Nick Shri if your PMC started eviction process for the tenants as you asked them to, then usually S8 caseworker stops rent payments.Of course, all this should have been explained to you when you asked to get rid of the tenants.

The advantage at least of this approach is that I could walk away, and although I'd lose my 5% deposit, that would likely be cheaper than being involved in a long drawn out legal process as I continue to absorb holding costs (taxes/insurance/maintenance, etc.).

While you may be able to get away with not informing the county about the change in residency status, most of the legal residence application processes in SC counties to change your assessment ratio from 6% to 4% will require you to disclose if you currently claim this status elsewhere.
