I’m familiar with the previous owners and the condition of the home.

A few days later I got a call from a lawyer that works for the HOA saying that the previous owner had 3 of these townhouses and through a bankruptcy the tenant is told to pay rent to them.  

My wife and I plan on staying in Europe for a few more years but we are looking into purchasing a 2-8 multifamily unit either in TN or NC around the large Army bases where we have previously lived and know the area. 

With your parents down the street, you could just bring your necessary items leaving seasonal clothes storage and other things at their place to limit your items needing storage to free up for the paying roommate.

You need to get a copy of the SD the previous owner signed and acknowledged.
