Instead of fixing up for selling, with the current appreciation shown in the past several years, i believe holding the property and renting it out is the first step for joining the exciting world of real estate investing. 

I spoke and texted with Willy.Now I’m a little concerned after reading these comments after joining this site.

I suggest joining your local REIA and networking with as many people as possible.

I think I joined BiggerPockets back in 2015 and I might’ve found out about the podcast around the same time.

We joined Think Multifamily back in 2017 and started passively investing in a couple deals with them as we were learning about syndication and got to know our mentors and the people in the group! 

At this point in time we are a little handcuffed towards purchasing future properties...don't have enough equity yet.I have an opportunity for a join venture where we would purchase single family homes and renovate to a triplex.

I've read nearly every biggerpockets book, listened to nearly every podcast, joined a local meet-up, and spend hours on Zillow and Trulia practicing property analysis on local properties (mostly in New Castle).

Join theirs.

Join AASCW (apartment assoc of South central Wisconsin) and network with the other folks there.
