This dilemma has been bugging me for the last couple months and when I heard his answer on the podcast, it hit me in the face.

I'm also hoping to retire at about 40, but I haven't yet been able to figure out how to minimize my exposure to health risks enough yet (provided that medicine doesn't get socialized or something by then).

I always ask myself a question in regards to what something is worth to me especially when I am in a dilemma on whether or not to take a loss and that question is would I throw that amount of money away or if I lost that amount of money would I try to find it, but ultimately the main question is would trying to regain the money personally cause me undue stress that would infringe upon my peace, which is really important to me and if the answer to the last question is yes then I wouldn't pursue it and I would move on with life, but most of the time I go after what I believe is due me because I can't stand throwing money away. lol

Her health has really suffered greatly.

This raises a question: How far does an HOA's power reach when it comes to denying mitigation of issues that could pose serious health risks?

My dilemma is that I don't know if I should just hang my license with a investor friendly broker where I can pay a flat fee-low fee/ high-full commission, no help company and "figure it out" along the way (if that's realistic). 

Usually due it divorce, job loss, or health issues.
