Many companies do require a minimum earned premium as Casey mentioned, but there are investor-friendly companies that can insure the property as it goes through the various stages of occupancy.

My experienced investor boss/friend says go Multi Family whenever I can.

I have a 3 bedroom house that I’m looking to rent to my friend and his wife .

But friends of ours who are in the business have advised that we shouldn't start out with a new construction project.
