The intention was to stay in the unit for 1 year working remotely with intermittent travel back to California, however, I had a leadership change who no longer supported this arrangement.

I wanted to travel the world, get paid, and not work (don't we all?). 

Is it typically an isolated problem based on the prior tenants habits?

lets just say i will be traveling in the area in a few weeks, and i had no problem finding rooms for 25-30 nightly with no cleaning fee. how do you make money in  that environment?

Yet lastly, should I manage to invent time travel and avoid any paradoxes going back to 2005, I'm 6'2", 44 years old, hopelessly out of shape, but I want to suit up for Tokyo 2020 and win the all-around gold in women's gymnastics...Sorry, Simcha, but the "you can do anything you want" ra-ra line gets to me.

I traveled for basketball back in high school to Eugene (although not Portland lol) and just loved the scenery and all the trees!

The guy had his own tattoo gun that he travels with.

It's in a terrific location, you can long term rent it at 1400 or you can furnish it and make solid money off travel nurses on 3-6mo contracts. 

I would also suggest heading east/west to less traveled areas and talk to mom/pop note holders looking to cash out. 

Then keep learning and doing the numbers on deal just to get in the habit.
