I have had trouble from different local places to set me up for a consultation meetinng.

Office is in trouble for sure, as is retail.

One additional factor is that in high end, fast appreciating markets like ours, buyers do tend to pay a premium for high end finishes and the promise of "trouble free" living (i.e. no repairs). 

If you are looking at this as a flip, you will have trouble getting financing (assuming that you need it) because the loan amount is too low for many lenders. 

Enforce the rent laws with trouble-making tenants and their "guests".

The biggest question I ask myself is where would I reinvest that money that would produce better returns?
