I am planning to rent out my unit in a mixed-use building.

Does anyone have an approximate cost per sqft to build new construction.

VA would be perfect for house hacking, or just building equity.

What I recommend is probably not good business practice (profit wise)  but i always build great relationships with my tenants ( also they always paid) and I had many over the years. 

The place is newly renovated, and I was expecting it to be in turnkey condition since they said it's move-in ready.

That would depend on a few factors:How confident you feel in managing the project (as @William Hutch mentioned).How confident you are in recognizing building issues/concerns, and pointing them out.How much time you have to oversee and research how things should be done.
