Now, I get the opportunity to spend a week with people from a variety of occupations including engineers, doctors, IRS agents, internet marketers, pilots, book/magazine authors, artists, surgeons, movie directors, bankers, teachers, flight attendants, lawyers, the list goes on and on and does include real estate investors too.

Another option is to hire a structural engineer, (ballpark $300 to $500) depending on house size, for their opinion.There are so many areas of shifting soil here in the metroplex, that it is more common to have a house with settlement than one without.

I was thinking painting it fire engine red (my walls are taupe, baseboard trim white, and floors oak stained walnut) and thought of painting the tongue and groove behind it white (or the taupe) as well, but not 100% sure on color scheme, as i want the FP to be the focal, and not have too many colors going on. the living room is decorated with tan/chocolate, hints of red etc....
