For traditional financing, the rule for multiple jobs is that you would have had to held both for 2 years consistently. if there's no gap in employment between the job you're leaving and the one you're starting, and you are full-time hours, and no weird stuff like commissions, bonus, overtime, etc.... you should be fine.

My opinion is that if you are going to be a full time investor and have the time and desire to look for deals, being an agent is a bonus.  

You might be able to find a realtor who will do it for free if you promise them a listing at the least, if not a bonus at 3.5/4% on their side.
