While certainly not to the extent of the Pullman projects currently underway, there is some glimmer of hope as construction has begun on a new state of the art firehouse on 119th st (a few blocks west of halsted), once complete will be the 2nd largest fire facility in the city.

Cook County has a similar proposal on the table that compares to CRLTO that will govern the parts of Cook County outside of Chicago and that proposal does not allow non refundable move in fees at all. 

Costs for care facilities and health care are rising much more quickly than inflation.

There are many good deals to be had at these auctions (especially in certain counties, Cook is super competitive) but you need cash, and a lot of confidence as you never get inside the property in advance.

You have a few options that don’t involve court, which should be the last resort in a place like Cook County.
