Not saying you cant make money off mailing to a list of absentees but its exactly what EVERY new investor is taught and exactly who they mail to along with the 50 other guys and gals who read the same e-book or article.

Look at articles and forums here on BP and find some good land lording books to get a fell for that.

I actually run a drug and alcohol recovery house as one of my rentals (see my article “My Most Rewarding Rental” or more recently, “My Tenant Died and I cried”).

I have been reading BP articles and listening to the podcast and I've learned a lot.

A recent article detailing the development plans of the new Detroit Red Wings arena and surrounding area covering 45 blocks including apartments, restaurants, and office buildings shows promise for the city's new super-sized entertainment district.

Coincidently I was just reading an article on Bloomberg about ownership rate for older households (80% which is 2x other groups).  

Make sure to listen to all the BP podcasts, read the articles on the main blog and be active in these forums to learn a ton very quickly about any topic in real estate you want to know more about.This is also a great place to meet people that can be assets to your business.
