I would guess that the short term future will continue to be a Fix and Flip for homes or a quick flip. 

These are the people most likely to use sub 800sf and would find a short-term lease desirable.

While I'm not currently looking to settle down, I enjoy traveling to #1 enjoy other cities, #2 scope real estate, #3 enjoy said cities with intelligent female company on short notice without the typical dating hoops to jump through just to be able to have true quality time with a great lady.

Long story short, after a few backs and forth, and a long delay from the seller's agent (due to health issues), we finally got the contract signed.

My short term goals right now is to purchase 2-3 more multifamily properties in the Woonsocket area (I am also looking in the Cumberland, Pawtucket, Providence areas) by the end of 2019.

I'm sure they have a policy on short term rentals.If you mean "legally" based on the terms of your loan (i.e. one for a primary residence), I would imagine that would be fine as long as you are living there.

For short term or long term? 

It borders my property on two sides, and virtually anything short of it staying the way it is (wooded) is going to severely derail my quality of life - and I'd rather not have to move. 

Aside from the fact that the VA may not fund given your short term assignment there are significant penalties for what you *might* be doing.
