Can I rent and Airbnb my single family residence?

I purchased a single family house in Salt Lake City with a mother-in-law apartment in the basement. I am planning on living in the basement and renting out the upstairs. Am I able to legally Airbnb the mother-in-law apartment in the basement? I would technically still be living there to claim it as my legal residence.
