What are some good tips & things I should steer away from?

I have a lot of clients that came to me after finding out their agents were steering them wrong.

When I installed my pool most gas companies steered us away from gas for a pool heater. 

So I would steer away from tying up the capital in a primary, and putting the primary in risk by taking out all the equity in it to fund projects.

But given your current employment, I would steer clear.
