You can create something basic for now, but when you grow, your website and online presence has to be "impressive.This is just my opinion.

I am looking for both cash flow and appreciation, safe, SFHOver the past year we have had double digit appreciation in most of the metro area along with steadily rising rents to boost cashflow.

For now, I'd prefer to just go with Wordpress.com with a custom domain name, just to get started so I can have a digital business card and start to build my blog audience.
