While my husband and I both have decent middle class incomes, with 2 kids and a house, there isn't a tremendous amount left to save, and it feels like a big mountain to climb.

I'm not fan either, but to be fair I was able to re-rent many of those nights at a discount, bringing my revenue to about 90% of what it would have been without the cancellations.I wish Airbnb found more of a middle ground when deciding what they were going to do.

My wife and I and want to get our feet wet and start with a multifamily unit in East TN for long term rental. 

Keep it for now because swapping investments in the middle of a storm may be tricky. 

Drove around to get a sense of the neighborhoods (fairly new to GA) and checked out: SW ATL (Pittsburgh, East Point...) may be  worth further investigation.

We also have an interest in East TN for later down the road (hometown) after the military.

If anyone could help guide me I'd really appreciate it.Currently living in Long Island, NY paying $850 (utilities included) for a nice private upstairs in a middle aged married couple's house.

I live in the East Bay, in Concord to be precise and prices here are at an all-time high.

@Dan Vleck sorry I guess I should have said East central Minnesota, but I think you are missing the point of the post.

If the state doesn’t get their political act together and/or the decreasing middle class continue to move out in droves, we’re all toast up here.
