so you had 2 to 2400 a month to live on .Even with gas at 30 cents a gallon ( when I pumped gas as a kid at the Gemco at the corner of Stevens Creek and De anza BLVD  ( no longer there) and made 1.65 and hour.. :)  So my point is at 1.5 to 2 mil is MUCH easier for the family knocking down 30k a month than it was for the head of house hold back in those days making 3 to 3.5 a month.
