Pex was a savior for water lines but the cast iron waste stack & drains as well as the cast iron vents required walls to be entered to be replaced &/or hooked up with PVC,As each apartment vacated I would upgrade before the next tenant(s) moved in.

I believe splitting it amongst the younger generation would allow everyone to have a place to vacation, with minimal cost.
