@Les Goodman - In my opinion owning an asset is better then not and if you can't afford the area you live in then that leaves you with one option. 

My fear with AC is that the rentals are dependent on casino employees and with the casinos on the decline I am afraid so are the renters.

Luckily my wife found us a room for free at a Harrah's casino hotel in Tunica MS.

I have a similar background Mike w/a BS in Hotel Admin from UNLV and an MBA from NY, but if I had to do it all over again, I'd avoid the Hospitality Industry - even though while in it working in a front of the house well tipped position w/a decent hourly wage in Vegas and Reno Mega Resort Casinos, I surely didn't need any degree in Hotel/hospitality.
